Santa 2006

This layout is not quite done... I have 2 printers and BOTH are out of ink - go figure. I wonder if Santa will slip me some extra cash to restock ink... anyhoo the journaling for this page will read:

A Visit with Santa Claus

This years visit with good old Saint Nick was wonderful. We arrived early, before the camera was set up. Santa chatted with all three bugs, explaining how he got there and where the reindeer were. When it came time to sit with Santa, all three scurried over like old friends. The bugs did not have very specific requests this year, but here is what they asked for:
Lauren: A talking kitty
Douglas: Cars stuff (from the movie)
Megan: Floam
I have it on good authority the talking kitty was a huge surprise to Santa and he had to send his elves on a hunt to make it happen…
Happy Christmas in July everyone!!!

A Visit with Santa

These are the magical moments I live for - Santa, The Tooth Fairy, and we even have a Fairy Godmother ( or Godfather for Douglas). In March the bugs get a visit from a Leprechaun and in October the Great Pumpkin leavs something fun... magical moments make magical memories. Here is our visit with Santa in 2005 - enjoy!

Christmas in July!

I am submerged in Christmas stuff- not only have I started my shopping (seriously!) but I am scrapping Christmas pictures from 2005 - 2007. Today I want to share a simple layout with you. Taking a picture of sleeping bugs nestled in their beds is a Christmas Eve Tradition - here are the bugs in 2005. Notice I don't use "Christmas" Colors--- try scrapping with non expected colors - it's fun!

Teaching a Class on Stickles!

I am thrilled to have been invited to teach a series of classes to a local scrap group - beginning with a class on using Stickles! Stickles are uber cool glitter glues that are so much fun to use. If you'd like to attend the class - it is being held in Loma Linda, Ca - let me know and I'll make sure you get a copy of the evite. Here are the layouts I designed for the class- participants choose pink or blue!

It's hard to see but I used stickles to add shimmer to the brads and I outlined the sunflower yellow paper with stickles as well. Class participants will leave class with many ideas for using stickles and this great 2 page layout!

Inspiration...

I had a scrappy weekend... did you? I am finishing up 2005, 2006, and 2007 - so that I can try my hardest to scrap all of 2008 and 2009 before 2010 begins--- wish me luck! I don't know anyone who is "caught up", but it's worth a shot. With all this scrapping to do, I am in constant need of inspiration... when I get bogged down I like to search for quotes and use them on my pages. One of my customers actually ordered a custom printout of this quote:

It's a great Quote isn't it??? I think so...the first 6 people to leave a comment with a favorite quote, I'll print it up and mail it to you - Happy Monday!

To many professional portraits....

I love taking the bugs to have their pictures taken. All three of them really shine on film - and as a result I end up spending a fortune and having more pictures than I know what to do with... so during a recent scrap session I decided to use a picture repeatedly as a design element. I like the way it turned out so much I may have to order even more pictures next time - GASP!

topsy turvey

While I was scrapping this past weekend I noticed a layout using a technique I liked, but had never tried - so I challenged myself to create a page using this same technique and I love the results! - Angle your pictures!
This page is a continuation of Megan's 5th birthday so there is no need for journaling, but I had a ton of pictures of present time - It was fun and EASY to create this page. If you have never created a "topsy turvey" layout - how about giving it a try some time soon!?!

1 picture layouts

It does not happen often - but sometimes I have only 1 picture to tell a story. When I only have 1 picture, I tend to do things a bit oversized, like my mat and title - but to add balance I used small, somewht delicate embellishments to accent the finished page. This is one of those pages I will whip out when Lauren is 15 and griping about doing her chores... Because at age 6 she loved to dust!

I'm Back!!!!

Wow - what a crazy week I had --- computers are both a blessing and a curse...but I'm back to blogging!!!
I want to start out my week with an easy little card I whipped up for a DT project. This "Thank You" is a Die Cut Frame from the Memory Cafe... I simply glued it to a plain white card and added the novelty bee button - you can of course use any simple embellishment or leave the card as is - the visual design of the frame is enough!

Suzy has been busy adding new products to her stor so buzz over and take a peek. If you buy something "bee" sure to tell her 1 Creative Bug sent ya!

More from the Memory Cafe

Golly - if My Gosse wasn't cute enough this layout with a die cut star frame from the Memory Cafe (Remember - the Design Team I am on!) sure is cute!
The center of the die cut is solid so you have room for pictures!

It was so fun to stickle random stars and make this page POP!

Have a GREAT weekend and look for more projects next week!

It IS a Bugs life!

Is this the most adorable layout ever - I think so for 2 reasons. 1> I created the page kit that includes the giant leaf and green background paper and 2> The very tallented designer Shannon Blinn embellished the page perfectly with her Disney World pictures.
This page kit is extremely versitile and can be used for Disney pages, backyard/outdoor scenes and MORE!
Look for this amazing kit in the 1 Creative Bug Etsy store soon!

Did I tell you...

I LOVE the CM paper Flowers, lol. I have no officially used the whole pack and I did 3 2 page spreads and the 1 page Princess layout...
This time I used Stickles - Another one of my FAVORITE products - in the centers. Here is a close up:

So sweet when they are asleep (and surrounded by flowers)!

This is the whole layout - No More Thumb Suck...

This is a great story actually. Megan was a heavy thumb sucker. She even twirled her hair while having a good session. This layout shows a variety of thumb sucking pictures over her first two years of life... A few months before Megan turned three we told her that 3 year olds don't suck their thumbs and if she wants to turn 3 she will have to stop. My brother chimed in and told her that her thumb would loose it's flavor. Honestly we were taking a shot in the dark - we NEVER thought it would work - BUT IT DID! Megan woke up on her third birthday and has never sucked her thumb (or twirled her hair) again!

Have a Safe 4th of July!

Here is a layout I did a few years ago... it seems many local fireworks displays are being cut. Everyone is hurting in these strange economic times. Whatever you do for the 4th - be safe, have fun and take pictures!

Sweet Princess!

Look at this amazing cutie pie! Yup that's my Goose - my middle bug. This is her 4 year old portrait. She had just had her hair cut - donated it all to locks of love.
The embellishments you see are all paper* - first we have paper Flowers from Creative Memories. I cannot believe how my lumpy bumpy put anything in your scrapbook girl loves these completely archival safe paper flowers! They are so much fun!
Next we have an awesome die cut from The Memory Cafe ( I am on her Design Team, remember ;-) The Princess Die cut is perfect for scrapbook pages or as a frame for the front of a card!
If you need a Creative Memories Consultant - I have 2 dear friends:
And
You can shop direct from their stores!

Scrapping Difficult Issues

Most of what I scrapbook is joyous - the awesome accomplishments and precious family memories. Some memories are painful - but I think it is just as important to scrap them. I took pictures galore during my Mom's funeral and buriel. This past weekend I scrapped it and wanted to share one of the pages with all of you.

I uses the Girly Girl Kit from KISS Scrapbooking.

(looks like she is out of these! - But Shannon has awesome kits - check her out!)

Go ahead and scrap that event that is hard - if you don't have pictures do a journaling only page. It was good to remember and honor my Mom with this page.
