I'm busy, you're busy - we are all busy! It's that time of year.... take some time to sit and enjoy a class with 1 Creative Bug... our first class of the year will be on Tuesday January 3, 2012 - GASP- yest THIS TUESDAY.

We will be exploring the Versatile world of Vellum - an oldie but a goodie in the scrapbooking and cardmaking world. You have your choice of three layouts... seating is limited so if you are at all interested, please email me to register.

Be sure to download the class handouts : Vellum Class Handouts even if you can't attend because of scheduling conflicts or if you live out of town, these handouts are PACKED with great ideas for using vellum.

September Class- Title Techniques

Next to the pictures, the title can be the most important element on your pages. Coming up with clever titles is as easy as a quick internet search or thumbing through the pages of my favorite title idea book...

If you don't have this book and want it - Let me know... I sell them on a pre-order basis for $20.00... you can check out my copy anytime, but it is more convienient to have your own!

Anyway, this class is not about coming up with great titles - it's how to make those titles LOOK great and where to put them on your layouts besides the time tested top of the page...

This month we have 2 choices - you can complete the Layout Class OR the Titles Only Class...

The layout Class will be creating this adorable layout: SUMMERTIME

I don't want to confuse anyone -- but I know I have some who prefer layouts with NO flowers... so I have 4 kits, and only 4 kits that have ribbon knots instead of flowers (See picture below). The kit is exactly the same ( SUMMERTIME) except for the ribbons... If you want this special kit - please make sure to let me know ASAP...

The second class option - we will create many titles together... a sampling is pictured below...this is called the TITLES ONLY option.

Putting this class together was so much fun and I am very excited to share the information with you!

Panorama Pages - Because sometimes 2 pages just isn't enough!

Howdy scrappers... Christy Here with the information for our August Scrapbooking Class: Panorama Pages.

This class will have 6 different monochromatic color choices

PURPLES

BLUES

BROWNS

GREENS

BLACK/GREY

PINKS

Each kit will have PLENTY of cardstock and the basics for making the panorama pages as well as some die cuts and embellishments... this month the layout is all YOU!

After we learn how to make the panorama pages, we'll go over some bacic design concepts such as the rule of threes and visual triangle - then you can apply what you have learned and design some awesome pages!!!

Please bring to class:

Trimmer with a blade and your scoring blade.

If you don't have a scoring blade bring your dry embossing tool (looks something like this:)

You will also need red-line or other strong double sided tape

Tape runner, glue dots, etc.

If you have not attended a class before and would like to - your first class is FREE.

Serendipity Squares! - May's Creative Class

It's that time again... time for an adventure in scrapbooking...

Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 6:30 pm we will be learing/reviewing and oldie- but a goodie techniques called Serendipity squares.

Please bring a trimmer, a glue stick and a glue pen (if you have one)... the trimmer and the glue stick are pretty essentil for this class. I will have a few on hand for those of you who have to come straight from work.

Long time blog followers should know my favorite techniqe is>>> Paper Tearing! It adds extra dimension to layering and helps visually divide the layers. If you have not tried it - put down the scissors and trimmer and start tearing!

White Space

Ribbon has got to be one of my FAVORITE things to use on a scrapbook page. I am excited to now carry a selection of ribbons for YOU!

Collage Scrapping

Happy Monday!!! Did you get any scrapping done this weekend? I hope so! You can scrap a page in under 15 minutes with 1 Creative Bug's Fast Frames... this is "Frame #4" - fancy name isn't it - ha ha! But seriously with 9 grid openings , some quick picture trimming and letter stickers your page is D- O -N- E - done!

Fast frames measure aproimately 11x11 and look awesome mounted onto cardstock or patterned paper. Want to add Journaling??? Easy just use cardstock to fill in one of the grids - and wa-la a perfect journal spot!

Fast Frames are available as a custom order too! Custom colors and custom sized openings! What can you create?

Embellish My World!!!

I wanted to share a layout I did that is a bit over the top... it took a lot of time, had a ton of embellishments and many details... but it was worth it!!! I used a kit from Kiss Crop N Shop - so it was EASY!!! Come on - me, do it if it's hard - no way!!! this KISS kit was just made for these sunrise and sunset pictures my hubby took while on the road.

Sometimes - you just need to embellish!

Seeing Spots...

Pictures, unless you crop them into a shape, are linear - many pages therefore take on a linear look...but look how easy it is to curve it up... I used a circle punch and my CM circle cutter - page done! You can do this same thing with Stars, arrows - whatever shape you want - spice it up and make the look your own!

Custom, Custom, Custom...

I think I mention my ability to custom create at least once a week- so here it is AGAIN for this week... Once you make a custom request you will be hooked... I have a handfull of customers who order SOMETHING completely custom at least once a month - and I love it!!!

This weeks layout was created by the lovely Shannon - and has a paper piecing replica of the karate school's logo - it's called the Shark Academy. I took a jpg image of the school logo, and whipped it up in no time... what custom request can you come up with??/ Oh, you might be thinking a custom request will be pricy - no, silly! Shannon's logo was a 6 inch piecing and it was just $5.00 - I want to see Jolee's beat that ;-)

To journal... or not??? That is a BIG question!!!

Stickers - they are still COOL!

Stickers were the first scrapbook embellishment, in my opinion... We went a little crazy buying and using them in the early days...I'm not even going to scan and show you one - ya, that bad...

HOWEVER, stickers are still cool, and can really accent your work...check out the ladybug stickers 'crawling' along my title... the trick with sickers is to keep them meaningful and simple.

Have you ever run into this problem... either you want to do a 2 page layout, or you want to use the same paper to accent or embellish a single page layout and you only have 1 piece of patterned paper???

Well, if so, I have an idea I want to share with you today... Here is a single page layout I created using only 1 piece of paper for the background, and the punches going down the middle...

The trick is easy - perhaps you guessed it... I cut a large square out of the patterned paper with my craft knife, and I used cardstock on the front of the layout to hide the big 'hole'...

You can use the 'extra' paper for anything... punches Like I did - or a large accent on a second page! I love it when an idea comes together!

There are two basic theories I have about the current state of scrapbooking... Today I am going to shre them with you.

Many of you have PLENTY of stuff (much of it purchased from yours truly, thank you very much) and you also have a LOT of scrapping to do... so because I want you (and me!) to Get It Done this year - I am designing a new line of simple pages called Embellish Me!

Starting at $5.00 you get a simple layout (like the one pictured below) You add the Embellishments (bling, chipboard, flowers, title, stickers, etc) ! You are able to use your stash and Git It Done! Perfect, if I do say so myself.

NOT! all the time... there are some things I don't want to share :-).

When the bugs were little, they used to take a few sips of my Starbucks Drink - when it got out of control I had to get them their own!

The bugs LOVE to sit in MY chair... the chair my Mommy and Daddy bout for me when I became a teacher, long before the bugs were born. Even Anthony can't sit in MY chair (it was before we were married too!)

And now the bugs have gone too far... they like Funnel Cake - I am doomed to have to share my precious, delicious once - a - year - treat! Oh the horror!

Lauren and Megan are following in my footsteps - they wer gobbling the funnel cake as fast as I was this past year! Next year I'm going to make them get their own - don't worry!

Yesterday was my birthday... For weeks before and after I make a big deal over my birthday. It really is exciting, and I love being alive. I don't get many gifts - and that really is ok because 5 years ago I made a deal with Anthony that he didn't have to buy me birthday, anniversary, mother's day, christmas or any other gifts - I wanted to stay home and raise/homeschool our children. My Amazing husband agreed - and some times he has broken his agreement and gotten me a little somehing, but, he really gives me a gift every day when he is the one to troop off to work. - Thanks Hunny for the BEST birthday gift EVER!

I think this is my favorite layout Shannon did for her Scrappin Sports and More CHA papers... These pictures are painted vegetables and stuff - I think at her local Fair. My kids would go CRAZY over something as cool as this!

When you create a 2 page layout - do you create a different look for the

left and right pages? Sometimes I do... but sometimes I prefer to keep it the same and repeat the same layout in reverse like I did on the layout above.

Repeating the same layout makes my scrapping go faster, but still lookin' good!

Even the older cousins got into the spirit of fairys, fun and dress up at the Fairy Party held in July of 2008. One of my lovely Nieces wanted (for no reason) to throw a party at her house... her mom was happy to oblidge, and the Fairy Party began.

This simple layout was fun to create - I used stuff from my stash, and nothing unique to 1 Creative Bug, but it's not always about that. It's about preserving memories and being able to recall the cherished moments together.

I had the pleasure of spending a scrappy weekend with my good friend Ana...we just scrapped here at my house, but we got alot done (even with the swarm of bugs underfoot!).

This is the front view of a mini album she created for an upcoming class.

This layout is so cute! 1 Creative Bug designer Shannon Blinn uses a lot of layering to give this page subtle dimension. Shannon and her family paid the magic kingdom a visit in 2008 - giving 1 Creative Bug the challenges of creating die cuts and paper piecings for Shannon to use in her album. For this page I created the mouse ear hat die cut. I love how Shannon added the jewels for an accent.

Paper Piercing Fun

It's kind of hard to tell in the picture--- but I created my title (Believe) by poking holes in cardstock... easy to do!

Print your title in REVERSE on plain paper. Use a temporary adhesive to attach to a cardstock strip that coordinates with your layout. Now use a piercing tool or a push pin and poke in even intervals along the word. When you are finished remove your pattern, flip your cardstock over and wa-la!- a paper pierced title.

Howdy Blog Fans!! How is everyone doing? Getting ready for the Holidays... we are already 5 days into Chaunaka and well on our way to Christmas.

This is an easy project you can whip up anytime --- the base is just a chipboard rectangle with a square window cut out for the picture. Covering chipboard is not a new technique - but man I am loving it. I made chipboard tags this year to adorn all my packages.

The 2009 Visit with Santa

Let me first thank Santa Claus - because this was no "helper" !!!

Santa was the Real Deal and the kids couldn't have been more excited. Thanks Santa for taking the time to visit the Festival of the Trees this year.

I love how the bugs are looking at Santa and just chatting. They sat with him a good 5 minutes!

Then Santa stopped over to revisit and read a story - the Bugs and their good friends even participated in a Parade with Santa. I think this this will be a year to remember!

Here are some fun ideas for scrapping your Santa Visit Layouts:

* Create a page "looking back" at all the visits with Santa over the years
* Journal the requests your kids made to Santa

* Put letters to Santa as hidden journaling

Many of our holiday traditions start in the kitchen! How many of you bake cookies for Christmas? Raise your hands! I DO, I DO! We have some that we ONLY bake at Christmas time.

I have two crops this weekend - back to back! First it's Friday night Fun at St. Catherine's for our Holiday Crop and Potluck. From 6 pm until midnight we'll be celebrating the season - bring a potluck dish to share, your $5.00 donation and if you'd like to participate in the ornament exchange - bring one of those too! When Megan joined the tooth fairy club - we were driving... she bit into a pancake...but unlike her sister, Megan did not panic....and I just happened to have my camera with me. I think I need to always have a camera with these bugs... so strapped in her carseat Megan poses for pictures after loosing her first tooth. (Don't worry I waitied until a red light to snap the pictures.) I used a Circle Lace Paper by the Memory Cafe

and a kit of stuff from chatterbox I have had sitting around forever. It was so much fun to put together!

I have never used a full 12 X 12 transparency on a layout before --- I am now officially addicted. I love how this layout looks! The transparency adds so much visual image and the colors are bright. It will be perfect when I add the picture of the bugs!

More MOSD Days!

Here is another layout documenting my days with MOSD... this is the second time Alison and I were together face to face in February 2008.

For this layout I used Stickles (AGAIN!!!) to add some red to the black and white flowere paper. I love stickles! The "Scrapbowl" vendor tag was actually my ID for the event, I removed it from the plastic cover and used it as an instant page accent!

Imagine two strangers meeting online and starting a business together... it happened to me! Back in 2007 I was blessed to meet face to face with my business partner for the first time. We met in Las Vegas for the Memory Trends Trade Show. The picture on this layout was taken by my husband who witnessed the whole crazy meeting... My time with MOSD is over (Everything has a season) but it will always be an experience that shaped me --- so this layout goes into my Book of Me!

Some fun things I did on this layout... I used a title Frame by the Memory Cafe and I also hand journaled around the picture. I did a lot of hand journaling this past weekend so I could finish my pages - i was happy with the results!

What a wonderfull scrappy weekend! I cannot thank my friends enough for their generous gift. I got an incredible amount of work done, laughed until my sides hurt and I got to eat so much good food I think I gained a million pounds!

Here is a page I did using foam letters and stars --- so they don't look quite so cheesy, I used stickles over them. Stickles are so much fun - I took stickles up for sale and sold a record number of bottles. THANKS Ladies!
